Goodbye, 2021... Hello 2022!

CJ is home! I’m gonna jot down some notes to keep track of the recent festivities. On the 24th, CJ’s flight was delayed about three hours. We finally met them at LAX at about 6 PM.

When we got back home, we made tomato soup and grilled sandwiches. We watched Muppet Christmas Carol! We also worked as a team to build Legos.

On Christmas Morning, Cheri woke up early and prepped the stockings. We all got cool stuff, including an awesome new journal – this one is personalized with my name engraved in the cover!

We chatted on the phone with Mackenzie and Jeremiah. We built more Legos.

We made cheese lasagna and ate a lot of sweets and Chex Mix.

We watched A Christmas Story… and then the new Disney movie: ENCANTO!

At 6pm, we joined the Silers on Zoom to do our White Elephant Gift Exchange. Mackenzie showed up at the beginning to say hello, but didn’t stick around because she hates these types of gift exchanges. (She was dressed in her camo uniform and looked very touch and cool!)

After Encanto, we sang YouTube Karaoke songs and then watched some SNL skits. Paul Rudd hosted a very pared down show due to COVID.

During the days that followed Christmas and led up to New Years…

We did a StreamYard with Mackenzie as we watched another Gravity Falls episode, then reviewed it for an upcoming youTube episode. My editing software was giving me grief, so I’ve switched from HitFilm Express to VSDC Video Editor.

CJ and I watched the 1979 sci-fi classic: ALIEN…

Then, we filmed a little Spooky Time review with special guest Mackenzie!

Our friend Keri took CJ and Cheri out to lunch at Rattler’s… then stopped by the house with her skeleton to visit some more. You know, I never actually asked her why she was hanging out with a skeleton. But he was very well-dressed, so he didn’t seem out of place.

On Thursday, the 29th, it was pouring down rain… so we went to Central Park to watch the flash floods roll by.

What did we do on Friday? I think it rained all day… We watched the first three episodes of Hawkeye… and at some point, maybe it was Friday, maybe it was earlier, we watched the eye-opening satire DON’T LOOK UP… definitely kept me thinking long after watching it.

CJ and I watched more spooky movies as the days followed: SCREAM (the 1990s original) and HELLRAISER 2. Spooky stuff!

For New Year’s Eve, we celebrated by singing more YouTube Karaoke, and listening to CJ play the piano. We also watched WHEN HARRY MET SALLY. After we rang in the New Year, we let Chase bark his head off at the fireworks, and then we watched a couple SNL skits to settle down before going to bed, right around 12:45am.

On New Year’s Day, we continued our tradition. Each of us chose one thing to do as a family. Cheri had us paint rocks to be distributed throughout the neighborhood.

CJ had us read in the living room (I finished a Stephen King story called “Cookie Jar”). My choice was LEGOS!

And we also watched the rest of HAWKEYE – a very fun six-episode series. Oh, and I reloaded a video game called WITCH 3, so that CJ could resume their quest.

All in all, it’s been a grand holiday season. Let’s hope that we can make good things happen in 2022.
